The Missing Corpse

Created as a multi-media CD-Rom this project combines diverse modes of visual narrative to tell the dream-like absurdity of life -- including hand drawn, cut-out and model animation, kinetic sculpture, digital video, and sequences of hand-painted stills to relate cross-referencing including: Breakfast in Despair, She's Not Dead, Fantasy of Poverty, and the eponymous Missing Corpse.

Eunjung Hwang
Born in Seoul, Korea, Eunjung Hwang lives and works in New York. She completed an MFA in Computer Arts at School of Visual Arts, New York in 2002. Her animations and new media works have been shown at a number of exhibitions and festivals internationally including International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (Germany), Exhibit 3 (The Digital Hub, Ireland), Impakt Festival 2003 (the Neteherlands), Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, SIGGRAPH 2003 (USA), Stuttgarter Filmwinter (Germany), [d]vison 2002 (Austria), File: Electronic Language International Festival (Brazil) and International Festival of New Film (Croatia). She was artist in residence at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces in Melbourne, Australia as a laureate of UNESCO-ASCHBERG bursary for artist for 2002 - 2003. She has received Award of the State Capital Stuttgart for New Media at the 16th Stuttgarter Filmwinter (Germany), Kala Art Fellowship (USA) and Kitacubo Award at Japan Digital Animation Festival. She was artist in residence at Eyebeam, New York for 2003 summer and currently artist in residence at Kala Art Institute, Berkeley, California.
