advanced new media art. Different forms of their mutual appropriation

Since 1994 are part of the group “For Anonymous and Free Art!”. “OUR OWN 2000” is a series of pieces created in 2000 for the TV programme “Under and Over 16 ”. Contains parts of “The Extraordinary” and “Aleksei Titov –The Cosmic Odyssey 2”
programmes. For the two years of our work with the programme our basic creative goal was “to allow ourselves a little extra”, i.e. confuse the (rather young) viewers and strike their imagination. We were having much fun, but the outsiders never noticed and only the narrow circle of our friends applauded our efforts, having seen the programmes on video. "Together We Can Defeat Capitalism"
10' 00" Andy Cox and Gabriel Guzman, USA. Radical film-makers, members of the guerilla art group “TOGETHER WE CAN DEFEAT CAPITALISM”, they have previously collaborated on “Stops A Nothing” (1998). The group was started in 1997 by the artist and engineer Andy
Gabriel Guzman is a professional film and video editor who has produced many films, including “Big Charade” (1998) and “Lopez” (2000).
This short film documents the activities of the guerilla art group TWCDC. Divided into a series of communiques (the first is “capitalism”), the film weaves the history of the group’s interventions with the history of political protest and the evils of both capitalism and communism.
The film is fast-paced and uses image, text, music, dialogue and sound effects to compress as much information as possible into the shortest amont of time. Throughout the film the narrative is propelled by subversive messages displayed on a large mobile electronic message board, normally used for traffic control, which the croup towed around San Fransisco. In one such message outside the Pasific Coast Stock Exchange they advised the rush hour trafic: “WARNING – STOCK MARKET CRASH AHEAD”.
A preview of the final film was featured at Craig Baldwin’s Othercine series in San Fransisco, 2000.
"The Demon" Moscow, 1998.

sculptor. Since 1994 has turned to video art. 2000-2001. Film director, member of the Board at “Positiv-Film” Studio (of Mosfilm
cineconcern). Director and scriptwriter of documentaries: “Rybinsk Portraits” (2000) and “After the Leader” (2001). Part of the “Literary Broadcasts” series. A fragment of the poem by M. Lermontov, “The Demon” was offered to an announcer invited to the studio. The announcer’s space is the White studio. Contrasted with his dryness and estrangement is the passionate behavior of “the bride” and the two “nuns”in the Black space.

Poet, graphic and video artist, active in performance and web art. Studied at the MPEI and at the Moscow Poligraphic Institute (the Faculty of
Graphics). Julia Velikanova. Born in Moscow, 1976. Works in the spere of video and web
art. Student of Moscow Institute of Architecture (BA, 2000). Once, while walking in a park the author found an inscription carved on a bench, between the usual dirty words and love vows: «The Dualism of a language sign is asymmetric».
This brought the author to the conclusion that all contemporary art sometimes reminds this combination. Philosophic quotations out of their context with the background of an accordion playing merry songs and dances…

2001 – the Seventh Multimedia Festival, Windsor. First show – presented as part of «Dog Fights» project, Novosibirsk, November 2000.
A pseudo-advertising unit of five videos. The objects advertised are goods and services seemingly needed for keeping dogs in contemporary society, such as food/unfood, entertainment, destruction. There's no real client. Materials used: TV-commercials, film stills, video art fragments from the 90's, original animations.

Television and Cinema have gained speed significantly since they came into exisence. The old films appear very slow to us already. This video originated as a reaction to the velocity of modernity. «Bad Move» is a question: what if the film accelerates to such a rate that images would simply become undiscernible and only lines and movement remain ?
