Video art collection of the Museum is one of the richest collections in the world. It contains both the earliest pieces of video art and recent videos. The second year the Museum kindly presents as part of informational showings at the Media Forum specially selected video programs. This time views will have an opportunity to see video experiments by film makers Jean-Luc Godard and Chris Marker (programme Videos by Filmmakers) as well as video reflections on the impact of the most mass of mass media - television, by classics of video art Nam Jun Paik, Bill Viola, Stan Duglas and others (in the frame of special programme TVprsence by Extension).

Montevideo possesses one of the most interesting collections of contemporary media art. As the programmes shown last year, two video selections for the II Media Forum represent diversity of included art works. Video Outlines 01 programme reflecting on developments in contemporary video art, presenting a diverse mixture of works that explore the boundaries of image and sound, re-appropriate traditions and re-work classic themes, and show the intertwining of different types of narratives. A sample chart of recent tendencies.
Art works included in the special selection for TVpresence by extension programme highlight the problem of mediation of inter-relations by means of such media as television and video.

"Transmediale" Berlin International Media Art Festival

The transmediale.01 video selection contains video works that differ
strongly in the way they were produced. Consequently, these videos give a
wide-ranging insight into the dimensions of current artistic video
production in form and content. The selection also includes the two ex-aequo
winners of the transmediale.01 video award (Kantor, Laliberté) and two of
the runners-up (Ellis, Niskanen).

European Media Art Festival «EMAF», Osnabrueck, Germany

The European Media Art Festival in Osnabrueck is one of the largest multimedia
events in Europe. The festival's exhibitions, retrospectives, artists' portraits,
performances, seminars and the Electronic Café, all enable the audience to gain
an extensive overview into the international world of media art. EMAF video programme encompasses the festival's highlights and works that show the way forward.

Retrospective of Danish video art. Different in their themes, concepts and technics, videos by Danish artists represent liric stories, manipulations with reality, visual experiments and many others.

is a selection of videos produced during the last three years and united by a theme of mental transgressivity of human senses and ideas.

PANDAEMONIUM: BIENIAL OF MOVING IMAGES 2001

The Lux is the UK's national centre for artists' moving image. The Lux exhibits artists' moving image installation work in its gallery space alongside a unique cinema programme that has its central focus on artist's single screen work. The artists' programme is linked to a wider selection of work from the cultural underground that references literature, music and the graphic arts. PANDEMONIUM is the UK’s premiere moving images festival, presenting international works from the leading lights in film, visual arts and digital culture. PANDEMIC 01: THE BEST OF PANDAEMONIUM presents a selection of the best films and videos from the festival programme.

CONTINUUM…
a program of American Videos curated by Masha Godovannaya

This program exhibits the work of five American video artists who are exploring the medium and trying to find its specific visual language. Meditation on trivial daily activities (Lynne Sachs), experiments with the same endless action (Sharon Paz), memories of past experience (Stom Sogo), philosophical exercises (Keith Sanborn), impressionistic manipulations of one movement (Leighton Pierce) – are the motives of these videos.  They are very personal works expressing the artists’ interests, observations, desires, knowledge, thoughts… A circular process, eternal movement, continuum…
